Villa O’Higgins, Chile
Another early start and long day to get to the end of the road tonight. The rear wheel rim of German cyclist Martin is cracking around the spokes and puncturing his tube from the inside. He catches up to us while I’m fixing a flat and decide to put on a new tube since the patches are now leaking on the old one. Martin has had four flats already today and gladly accepts the tube I’d otherwise have thrown out. We buy our boat tickets when the office opens at seven along with our five cycling amigos; Shauna, Julian, Philip, Santiago, and Gari. We feel rushed to buy food for tonight and one more night in the wilderness. There is enough cash left to splurge for dorm beds at El Mosco Hostel, with a nice camaraderie in the communal kitchen. We give up on trying to post a message on our blog that we’re OK and still don’t get enough sleep for the big day tomorrow.
